The WA/OR chapter finals are approaching quickly.  They will be held at the TRAC facility in Pasco, WA on September 18th-21st, 2008.  Remember in order to qualify for the WA/OR finals, you need to rope at six roping days in this chapter.  Remember that four out of the six qualifiers must be from our chapter.  September 2, 2008 will be the cut-off date for having your six ropings completed and for the points to count towards the year end awards.  The Directors are finalizing the details for the Chapter Finals.  To compete at another chapter’s finals, you must meet their qualifications.  It is your responsibility to get a slip filled out from an outside chapter secretary in order to have it count for WA/OR Chapter.  The National Finals for 2008 will run from October 20th-October, 26th in Reno, Nevada.  You have to compete at a State Chapter Finals in order to qualify to rope at the ACTRA National Finals. 

This past month the directors met and discussed the State Finals as well as other business.  It was voted that the entry fees for State Finals will be $50, this does not include the Open roping.  Seven places will be awarded in the average for each roping.  For the year end awards, ten places will be awarded in each division. 

The ACTRA website is updated daily with point standings and the results for the past 30 days.  Please check it out and give us any input, as we are always trying to improve the information and how it is presented.

The directors have been reviewing/adjusting numbers on a monthly basis.  All directors are asked to vote if they know the person.  Numbers are not decided by one person.  Any recent number changes are posted on the website.  If your number is changed, you will receive a letter and a new membership card showing the new number.  If you decide to apply for a double number, the cost is $30 and that money needs to be received by the end of the month.  That ensures that you will be placed on the next month’s ballot.

This past month we have welcomed on JK Arena (Eugene, OR) and People Helping Horses (Arlington, WA) as arena producers.  All of the arena operators are listed on the website with their contact information. 

YEAR END POINTS
 Instead of money won, it will be done on a point system.  Any roping with 40 teams or more will count for points and as a qualifier.   Under 40 teams will count as a qualifier only.  Points will be given to places paid as follows:
Go Round: 
                    1st   -  40 pts
                         2nd  -  30 pts
                         3rd  -   20 pts
                         4th   -  10 pts
Average:   
                1st   - 100 pts (Plus one point added per team entered for all average places only)
                    2nd  -   90 pts
                    3rd   -  80 pts
                    4th   -  70 pts
                    5th   -  60 pts
                    6th   -  50 pts

                    7th   -  40 pts

                    8th   -  30 pts

                    9th   -  20 pts

                   10th  -  10 pts

Arena Operators:

Remember that you are under a contractual agreement to send in your results postmarked within a week of an event’s completion.  This is especially critical this month, as the points will all be finalized after September 2nd for the year end standings.

Please notify me by the end of each month if you have any ropers that need their numbers reviewed.  The ballot goes out on the first of each month, so the information is needed prior to that.

You can only win in one division per classification. If your number is moved after May 31st, 2008, and changes your division, your points for year-end will stay in the previous division and all points earned after May 31st will be applied to the previous division. If your number is changed before May 31st, your points will go with you to the new division.
